But make no mistake, Shandell Tosoni is a name we are going to hear a lot more about.Ivory's Rock Conference Centre is fortunate to have booked the singer and songwriter for its Sunday in the Country open day on July 9,just as she has moved to Brisbane from her north Queensland home to seriously launch her career.Although only 19, Shandell has already achieved much in the country music world,with a host of awards and high-profile gigs to her name.She describes leaving her home on a Dimbulah mango farm last month as "one of my biggest moves".Shandell's ambition is nothing less than to become a well-known singer and songwriter in Australia and worldwide.She already has a long list of credits and a wealth of experience, from seven years of performing and taking out awards at some of the biggest music festivals in the country.This year at the Tamworth Music Festival she was named Aristocrat Entertainer of the year.And, as a testament to her songwriting ability, Shandell won the Under 18 category of the Nashville Song Search Competition in 2004, the only Australian to have won the award.That took her to the home of country music, Nashville, for a couple of weeks where she got to sing her award-winning co-written composition Here with Me at the famous Bluebird Café, on the same bill as Don Schiltz, writer of The Gambler."That was my top moment," Shandell said."I thought it was very cool Visit www.italianweek.blogspot.com for more information.Singer/Songwriter Shandell Tosoni is 17 and hails from Dimbulah. She has been singing Country Music for about 5 years and competing in talent quests for four. In her years of performing she has been doing incredibly well, travelling around the country music circuit. Her successful beginnings started at the Walkamin Country Music Talent Quest in 2001, where she won the junior overall title and the highest point score over the weekend, this entitled her to compete in the Gympie Muster Talent Quest where she placed second in her section of Country Rock. Some of her recent achievements are. Winner of Traditional Country section and second in the Country Rock Section at the Gympie Muster Maton Talent Quest (August 2003). Winner of her sections at the Emerald Gems of Country Talent Quest (June 2001). Graduate of the 2002 Tamworth Camerata. Placed in many sections at Charters Towers Gold Country Music Awards (2001, 2002, and 2003) .Finalist in the Qld Champion of Champions competition (2001, 2002). Top Five Finalists in the CCMA Talent Quests in Tamworth. The Barry Thornton Award at the CCMA Talent quest in Tamworth.
